Architectural designer Rem Koolhaas is the coolest of the cool modern day architectural designers of the 21st century. His work first appeared over 20 years ago when it begun to take the world of architecture and design by storm.
Today the architectural designing god has taken the art of architectural designing to a whole and entirely unique level. Modest and gifted are two words to this innovating master of steel, bricks, glass and concrete. The process he arrives at per architectural masterpiece his designs is straightforward.
His building designs while somehow out of this world still manage to retain a simplicity about them that at the same time sets them apart from their surroundings without causing intolerance to the nearby buildings. Stating merely that the building designed by Koolhaas definitely stand out in the crowd is somewhat of an understatement.
Koolhaas designed buildings tend to dwarf all other architecture around in a 5 block radius to his thoughtful and aesthetically beautifully designed creations. The scale of his design vision for buildings like the CCTV Tower in Beijing is literally out of this world.
Standing tall as two towers joined by a connecting extension, this building allows the beholder to become complete enthralled with the shape of this most ingenious design. The concept behind this design was to ensure that no one functioning department stood heads or tails above the next.
Equality between department heads had to be incorporated into the design from the very start. His aim was to make the presence of the building and its importance to the community around it known. Koolhaas carried out this intension extremely well but at an astronomical financial cost to the client. The project is said to cost an estimated amount of 750 million euros.
A favorite of fashion Goddess Miucci Prada, Koolhaas has designed some of the most fantastical Prada stores for the fashion designer on the planet. Koolhaas teamed up with Prada for the crème of the crème in shop designing on several different occasions. The finished shop design creating the greatest Prada store masterpiece is located in New York.
Originally a screenplay writer, Koolhaas found his true calling within the folds of architectural creativity and design genius. He shares his knowledge and genius with inquisitive students attending lecturers he holds at Harvard University, Boston. He describes his decision to get involvement in lecturing aspects of architecture and design as the opportunity he needed to gain more knowledge of the craft first hand.
Considered to be a celebrity star in the architecture field he knows so well, Koolhaas tends to shy away from the complement and the spotlight. Rather preferring to have his work to the talking for him. His latest architectural design project also of an astronomical budget is the Seoul University Museum of Art in Beijing.
